Congratulations to [ s p a c e ] artist Katie Trinkle-Legge for winning the 2026 Zinni Douglas Merit Award as part of the 2026 Walker and Hall Waiheke Art Award with her work ‘Nostalgia’, selected by Dick Frizzell at the Waiheke Art Gallery

Katie is thrilled to have received the Zinni Douglas Merit Award and wishes to thank Waiheke Art Gallery, Dick Frizzell and Walker and Hall.

Legge felt very nostalgic painting this piece. The beachballs reminded Legge of her son when he was very young. That familiar ping in her cheeks as she inflated them. “A breeze in the studio made them move and change position. One had a slow leak. But it all came together.”

This award is generously sponsored by the Waiheke Art Gallery Patrons.

The show runs from October 16 – November 29
