This dynamic wooden sculpture by Olivier Duhamel captures the grace, tension, and poised athleticism of the human body in motion. Formed through Duhamel’s signature method of stacked laminated wood, the figure appears both solid and fluid, its contours animated by the rhythmic topography of precisely cut layers.
The layered construction accentuates every curve, creating flowing ripples of light and shadow that emphasize musculature and movement while giving the piece a subtly abstracted, almost geological presence.
Both sensual and architectural, Anavi exemplifies Duhamel’s exploration of the human form through contemporary craft. The warm tones of the wood, the precision of the laminations, and the sculptor’s refined understanding of anatomy come together to create a work that feels at once intimate, kinetic, and timeless.
Other series exists at different scale, material and colours.
